Kendrick Lamar Unveils Capsule Collection with Willy Chavarria Ahead of Super Bowl Halftime Show
Kendrick Lamar is gearing up for his highly anticipated Super Bowl LIX halftime performance by launching an exclusive capsule collection in collaboration with renowned designer Willy Chavarria.
A Collaboration with pgLang, Willy Chavarria, and the NFL
According to Hypebeast, Lamar’s creative company pgLang has teamed up with Chavarria and the NFL to release a special collection of merchandise. The collection includes a variety of stylish and athletic-inspired pieces such as satin jackets, hoodies, t-shirts, jerseys, and shorts.
Several items in the collection prominently feature lyrics from Lamar’s song “TV Off” and the term “g.NATIONAL”, a reference to his upcoming Grand National Tour with SZA.
Signature Pieces and Exclusive Designs
The capsule also boasts lightweight practice jerseys, drawstring mesh shorts, Super Bowl LIX hoodies, and t-shirts adorned with unique graphics designed by Felipe Merida. Some of the standout pieces include the phrase “Foot Up On The Gas But Somebody Gotta Do It”, which further alludes to Lamar’s powerful lyricism and creative vision.
Chavarria’s Inspiration for the Collection
In a statement, Willy Chavarria shared the vision behind the collaboration:
“The inspiration for this collection was just celebrating [Kendrick Lamar] and celebrating a real ’90s influence in fashion. Going back to the whole idea of how people of color incorporated sportswear into fashion.”
This partnership is not the first time Chavarria and Lamar have worked together. The designer previously created outfits for Lamar’s Big Steppers Tour and styled him for the “Not Like Us” music video.
Super Bowl Performance & Upcoming Grand National Tour
The upcoming Super Bowl halftime show, featuring both Kendrick Lamar and SZA, is set to be one of the most talked-about performances of the year. The Super Bowl LIX halftime show will take place on February 9th at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
