Jonathan Joss, best known as the voice of John Redcorn on the beloved animated series King of the Hill, was tragically shot and killed Sunday evening in San Antonio, Texas — allegedly by his neighbor following a heated confrontation.
Suspect in Custody, Charged With Murder
TMZ obtained the mug shot of Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, the man police arrested just one block from the shooting scene. Ceja has been charged with murder and is currently being held on $200,000 bond.
Authorities say the two men had a longstanding history of disputes, both verbal and physical, prior to the fatal incident.
A Tragic Chain of Events
Joss, 59, was reportedly in the neighborhood to pick up a victim’s fund check tied to his home, which had burned down in February. Witnesses say he became distraught upon seeing the skeleton of one of his dogs that perished in the fire, and began shouting outside — a moment that allegedly triggered the deadly encounter.
Homophobic Slurs Reported Before Shooting
Tristan Kern de Gonzales, Joss’ husband, took to Facebook to mourn the loss and claimed Ceja shouted violent homophobic slurs moments before allegedly opening fire.
Community in Mourning
Fans and friends across the entertainment industry are expressing shock and grief over the loss of Joss, whose portrayal of the Native American healer John Redcorn made him a standout voice on King of the Hill for over a decade.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive and circumstances surrounding the altercation. Ceja remains in custody as the case moves forward.
