During a candid appearance on Lil Yachty’s A Safe Place podcast, Lil Baby revealed startling details about the day Young Thug was apprehended and his own personal challenges, including a massive gambling loss.

A Close Call at Young Thug’s House

Lil Baby disclosed that he was at Young Thug’s house just hours before the rapper was arrested:

“People don’t know and I don’t even tell people. It could’ve been with him,” Baby shared. “I was at his house the same day. Thank God I just happened to leave two hours early. That’ll fck your head up more than anything. Like damn, I gotta see bro go through this [and] that sht really could have been me.”

He reflected on the impact of seeing his close friend and everyday peer face such life-altering circumstances:

“A n*gga had to change they whole life around. [This is] not even my rap peer. This is my every day [friend]. These who I grew up with.”

A Costly Gambling Habit

In the same interview, Lil Baby recounted losing an astonishing $8–$9 million in a gambling marathon that spanned 40 hours.

“Eight million dollars,” Baby revealed. “One day, probably like 40 hours. 40 hours straight, I lost like, $8 million, $9 million.”

The experience prompted Baby to make drastic changes to curb his gambling habit. He enlisted Fanatics founder Mike Rubin to help him quit:

“Mike Rubin wrote a letter to every casino and ban me from the casino, ’cause I just do sh*t.”

Baby has previously spoken about his gambling adventures, sharing stories of high-stakes sessions with Drake, Meek Mill, James Harden, and Rubin.

“They say you gonna lose more than you gonna win, but over time, you can’t even remember, though. That’s the crazy part. I just feel like, if I’m lucky today, I’m lucky. If I’m not, I’m not. I win all the time. I lose all the time, too.”

Reflection and Growth

The revelations highlight Lil Baby’s journey of self-awareness and growth as he navigates the challenges of fame, fortune, and personal relationships. His candidness underscores the high stakes of his lifestyle, from close brushes with legal trouble to learning to manage the risks of gambling.

Stay tuned for updates on Lil Baby’s continued evolution, including his highly anticipated upcoming album, WHAM (Who Hard as Me), set for release on January 3.
