Lil Durk Faces Murder-for-Hire Allegations, Engineer’s Testimony Challenges Key Evidence
Rapper Lil Durk is embroiled in a high-profile legal battle, facing serious murder-for-hire charges tied to the death of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson. Yet, a surprising twist in the case has emerged from an unlikely source—Durk’s longtime producer and sound engineer, Justin Gibson, also known as “jusvibes.”
Gibson, who has been collaborating with Lil Durk since 2021, filed a sworn affidavit on Sunday, December 15, refuting a major component of the prosecution’s case. The court submission, bolstered by screenshots, aims to disprove claims that Durk’s lyrics in “Wonderful Wayne and Jackie Boy,” a collaboration with Babyface Ray, were linked to Robinson’s murder.
Prosecutors previously argued that the lyrics—specifically, “Look on the news and see your son/ You screamin’, ‘No, no,’”—referenced Quando Rondo’s anguished reaction upon discovering Robinson’s body. However, Gibson asserts he was present during the creation of the track, revealing that Durk wrote and recorded the verse on January 25, 2022—seven months before Robinson’s death. To substantiate his testimony, Gibson provided timestamped screenshots of a rough draft saved on the same date.
Beyond the Robinson case, Durk’s legal troubles deepen as newly unsealed court documents link him to the January 2022 murder of Stephon Mack, a reputed Chicago gang leader. Authorities suggest the killing was a retaliatory act following the 2021 death of Durk’s brother, Dontay “DThang” Banks. While Durk has not been formally charged in Mack’s case, ongoing investigations could implicate him further.
This case has captured significant attention, as fans and critics alike debate the intersection of art and real-life events. With critical evidence now being challenged, Lil Durk’s future remains uncertain, and the case continues to unfold in the public eye.
