Lil Pazo Lunabe Apologizes to Buganda Kingdom Following Song Ban Controversy
Ugandan singer Lil Pazo Lunabe, real name Mukasa Yasin, recently visited the Kabaka’s palace to offer a formal apology and address misunderstandings with the Katikiro of Buganda. This visit came after the Katikiro announced a ban on Lil Pazo’s and Gravity Omutujju’s songs from being played on Buganda Kingdom stations, citing concerns over vulgarity.
Dressed in traditional Kiganda attire—a kanzu and a coat—Lil Pazo was accompanied by his friends Hashim and blogger Frank Ntambi, along with a group of journalists. The singer submitted a letter to the Katikiro, requesting an in-person meeting to explain his side of the story and clarify the controversies surrounding his music.
Addressing the Katikiro
Speaking about his visit, Lil Pazo emphasized his respect for the kingdom and explained the purpose of his letter:
“I’m a Muganda man, and the reason I’m here is because the Katikiro called me out, and I knew it was serious. I have delivered a letter to address what has been circulating in the media and what he may have read about me on social media,” Lil Pazo stated.
Clearing Misunderstandings
Following the Katikiro’s announcement banning his music, Lil Pazo had taken to TikTok Live to address the matter. However, he claims his statements were misconstrued by bloggers who made it appear as though he was attacking the kingdom.
“My response was directed to the UNCC and Phina Mugerwa, not the Katikiro. Some malicious individuals edited clips to make it seem like I was addressing the kingdom negatively. That’s why I had to come here quickly and explain myself,” he clarified.
Lil Pazo further expressed frustration over false narratives aimed at tarnishing his image and stressed his commitment to cultural norms and values.
Support from Frank Ntambi
Blogger Frank Ntambi, who accompanied Lil Pazo, shared insights into the singer’s efforts to resolve the matter.
“Lil Pazo has never been disobedient. He respects cultural norms and is very entertaining. This issue might have seemed small, but it was significant, and he needed to explain himself,” Ntambi said.
A Step Toward Resolution
Lil Pazo’s visit and letter submission mark a significant step in resolving the tension between the singer and the kingdom. Fans and cultural leaders alike will be watching closely as the Katikiro and the Buganda Kingdom consider his apology and explanation.
This incident highlights the importance of communication and the need to address misunderstandings promptly, especially in the public eye.
We’ll continue to provide updates as the story unfolds. For now, Lil Pazo Lunabe remains committed to clearing his name and maintaining his respect for the Buganda Kingdom.
