Michael Theo is closing a major chapter in his life — and possibly breaking a few hearts in the process. The Love on the Spectrum: Australia fan favorite just revealed two big updates: the hit reality dating series won’t be returning for a third season, and he’s no longer single.
The 29-year-old spoke exclusively on The Big Down Under podcast, where he confirmed that while fans won’t see his love life on screen anymore, things are going strong behind the scenes.
“I’ve been dating someone for about nine months now,” Michael shared, explaining that the relationship began after they met at a work event. “I’ve kept the details private because I don’t want my partner to face any negative backlash online.”

While Michael didn’t go into specifics about why Love on the Spectrum: Australia has been canceled, he made it clear he’s at peace with the decision. “That chapter of my life is closed,” he said. “I wasn’t in it for fame — I was in it to find love.”
Mission accomplished.
Michael also opened up about how he and his girlfriend handle relationship challenges. Without spoiling his exact words (you’ll have to listen to the full podcast for that), his approach proves he’s as much of a romantic off-camera as he was on the show.
The Australian version of Love on the Spectrum — which premiered before the U.S. adaptation — earned international praise for its heartwarming and authentic portrayal of dating for people on the autism spectrum. While fans may be sad to see it end, Michael’s happily-ever-after might just be the best series finale of all.
