Hurricane Melissa left a trail of devastation across Jamaica, and reggae legend Maxi Priest is stepping up alongside his longtime friend Sean Paul to help rebuild their beloved island.
Sources close to Maxi told TPR that he’s teaming up with his new label partner, Intercept Music, to launch a GoFundMe campaign aimed at supporting humanitarian efforts in Jamaica. The initiative is designed to raise critical funds for families affected by the storm.
“We need to give back to the people who need it most,” Maxi’s team explained. “This is about helping our community and supporting our bredren during a time of crisis.”
Sean Paul Matching Donations
Maxi is also encouraging fans to donate to Food For The Poor Jamaica, where Sean Paul has already pledged to match donations up to $100,000. The collaboration demonstrates the duo’s dedication to not just raising money but also creating tangible change for those impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

International Fundraising Efforts
Maxi’s relief work doesn’t stop there. He’s partnering with the British Chamber of Commerce Guyana (BritCham) to generate additional funds, as well as collaborating with Tropical Sun Grocers, the UK’s largest distributor of African and Caribbean products, to send essential supplies like canned goods and rice directly to Jamaica.
“The goal is to ensure that every donation and effort reaches the families who need it most,” Maxi’s spokesperson said.
Taking the Cause to London
The campaign is going global. On Thursday, Maxi and Faizal Khan, Chairman of BritCham Guyana, will lead a networking segment at the BritCham Guyana Business Forum & Networking Event at Chelsea Football Club’s Stamford Bridge in London. The segment is designed to raise awareness about Hurricane Melissa’s damage while boosting donations from the international business community.
This high-profile approach ensures that Hurricane Melissa’s impact remains in the spotlight and helps maximize support from both local and overseas communities.
A Bond Forged Through Music
Maxi Priest and Sean Paul’s friendship and collaboration are stronger than ever. The duo recently released their duet “Feel So Alive” through Intercept Music, highlighting both their musical synergy and shared commitment to uplifting their community.
“Music brings us together, and now we’re channeling that unity into something meaningful for Jamaica,” Maxi said.
