Mickey Rourke may have been dramatically removed from Celebrity Big Brother UK, but the Oscar-nominated actor isn’t fading quietly into the background. In fact, he’s gearing up for a potential legal showdown with ITV, the network behind the show, over what he claims is a deliberate move to avoid paying him a substantial sum.
According to Rourke’s representative, Kimberly Hines, the actor is currently consulting with legal teams in the UK and actively considering a lawsuit. She alleges ITV intentionally removed him from the reality series just one day before he would have been eligible for a larger payout, accusing the producers of strategically evading their financial obligations.
Claims of Contract Breach and Financial Deductions
Hines tells TMZ that not only was Rourke denied a significant bonus, but ITV is also docking thousands of dollars from his current earnings—mainly over hotel costs.
She says Rourke had been promised first-class accommodations for both himself and his team. However, while en route to London, ITV reportedly changed the deal, informing them they would only reimburse up to $300 per night per room.
By then, the actor had already booked an ultra-luxurious hotel for his entourage, racking up a $50,000 bill—which he’s now left to pay out of pocket.
Rourke Says He Was Exploited for Drama
The Iron Man 2 and The Wrestler star’s rep didn’t hold back, accusing Celebrity Big Brother producers of knowing exactly what they were doing when they cast Mickey—famous for his outspoken nature and volatile on-camera persona.
“They got the drama they wanted from him,” Hines said, “and then tossed him aside with barely a ride to the airport.”
Financial Hardships Revealed
Sources close to the situation told TMZ that Rourke only agreed to participate in the reality series due to ongoing financial struggles. He reportedly needed a quick check to cover pressing debts.
Despite staying quiet until now, the actor is said to have held back out of dignity and pride, not wanting to publicly discuss his personal financial issues.
Controversial Exit from the Show
Rourke’s abrupt exit came on Saturday after several incidents involving inappropriate behavior. According to ITV, the actor made offensive remarks directed at JoJo Siwa, which prompted a formal warning. Things escalated when he reportedly aggressively confronted fellow housemate Chris Hughes, leading to his removal.
ITV released a statement claiming the decision for Rourke to leave the show was mutual. However, Hines disputes this narrative, calling the statement a “tactic” to avoid contract fulfillment. She insists Mickey did not agree to walk away, and that the move was orchestrated by producers to deny him the higher compensation tier he was about to unlock.
Looking Ahead: One Last Comeback?
Despite the legal drama, Rourke’s rep says the actor remains focused on his true passion—acting. “He wants to move on and concentrate on making quality films,” she shared. “This was supposed to be a stepping stone for his final comeback.”
“But before that can happen, ITV needs to honor their contract and pay what’s rightfully his.”
ITV Yet to Respond
TMZ reached out to ITV for a statement regarding Rourke’s accusations and legal threat. As of now, the network has not issued a response.
