Nancy Grace is calling out Bryan Kohberger’s defense team for what she views as an attempt to misdirect the public with recent revelations about blood from two unidentified males found at the scene of the tragic murders of four University of Idaho students in 2022.
In a Zoom interview with TMZ, the renowned legal analyst broke down the implications of the discovery and the defense’s strategy, noting that Kohberger’s attorney, Anne Taylor, is making the most of the new information to bolster her client’s case.
The Defense’s Argument
The defense has seized on the revelation that blood from two unknown males was identified on a stairway handrail inside the house and on a glove outside the residence. Taylor is reportedly challenging the credibility of the investigation, arguing that this evidence was not disclosed earlier and raises questions about whether the right person was arrested.
Nancy Grace, however, isn’t buying it. She points out that the arrest warrant for Kohberger was narrowly focused on him, meaning the judge didn’t need to be presented with the other DNA evidence. She believes the police acted appropriately by not emphasizing DNA that wasn’t tied directly to Kohberger in the warrant process.
Nancy’s Take on the DNA Revelations
Grace acknowledges that the defense is likely to use the unidentified DNA in its opening arguments to create reasonable doubt, claiming, “The shock value means everything because the defense will argue, ‘It’s not our client! There are two other male DNA donors at the scene, and we don’t even know who they are!’”
Despite this, Nancy insists the discovery of additional DNA doesn’t carry much weight. She suggests the unidentified blood could be old and unrelated to the crime, possibly left behind from years of normal activity in the house.
Her reasoning? Kohberger’s own DNA, found on a knife sheath under the body of one of the victims, is far more incriminating. Nancy asserts that this key piece of evidence ties him directly to the scene in a way the other DNA does not.
Kohberger Remains the Prime Suspect
Nancy firmly believes the case against Kohberger remains strong. She dismisses the possibility of accomplices and emphasizes that the new DNA findings are unlikely to shift the focus away from him as the prime suspect.
With Kohberger’s defense gearing up to leverage this new evidence, the case is sure to see dramatic arguments from both sides. While the revelation of unidentified DNA gives the defense an opportunity to raise doubts, Nancy Grace is clear: the knife sheath with Kohberger’s DNA overshadows all other findings.
