Kanye West is under fire again—but this time, it’s not from a brand or corporate partner.
While vacationing in Cannes, Hot 97 host Peter Rosenberg unleashed a scathing tirade against Ye, calling out the rapper for his history of antisemitic remarks and mocking his failed attempt to become a creative force at Louis Vuitton.
In a now-viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on July 15, Rosenberg didn’t hold back.
“Lolll Kanye is such a failure,” Rosenberg tweeted alongside a clip of himself strolling outside a Louis Vuitton store in France.
“Kanye Must Be Sick to His Stomach”
As he walked past the luxury storefront, Rosenberg reflected on Ye’s self-proclaimed nickname, the “Louis Vuitton Don.”
“Do you realize how sick Kanye has to be in the core of his stomach?” Rosenberg said. “Kanye has to live with the fact that he called himself the Louis Vuitton Don. And Pharrell is literally now the Louis Vuitton Don.”
Rosenberg went on to praise Pharrell Williams and the late Virgil Abloh—both of whom have held Louis Vuitton’s prestigious menswear creative director role.
“Virgil made it. Pharrell made it. Kanye is disappointing people everywhere. Oh, couldn’t happen to a better guy. Low-life Jew-hating piece of sht.”*
The blunt diss quickly ignited conversations online, with fans and critics of both men weighing in.
A History of Controversy
Rosenberg’s comments come in the wake of Kanye’s string of antisemitic remarks in 2022 and 2023. Ye’s statements resulted in widespread backlash, severed partnerships with Adidas, Balenciaga, and others, and a significant blow to his public image.
Rosenberg, who is Jewish, has been vocal about his disdain for Ye’s behavior, calling it narcissistic and dangerous.
“Kanye isn’t just problematic—he’s toxic,” Rosenberg said in previous interviews.
The Louis Vuitton Snub
Kanye’s strained relationship with Louis Vuitton has been well-documented. While he collaborated with the luxury brand in 2009, Ye reportedly clashed with executives and was later denied a meeting with the then-Vice President, leading to a professional fallout.
Fast forward to 2018: Kanye’s close friend Virgil Abloh was named creative director of menswear, a position Ye reportedly coveted. In 2023, Pharrell Williams stepped into the role after Abloh’s untimely death.
For Kanye, Pharrell’s appointment was likely both a personal and professional blow.
“The brand that once rejected him embraced another artist from his own circle,” an insider told The Pop Radar.
Fans Sound Off
Social media exploded after Rosenberg’s comments hit the internet.
- “Peter Rosenberg said what we’re all thinking. Kanye did this to himself.”
- “Pharrell is the true Louis Vuitton Don. Period.”
- “Ye still has genius in him, but he needs to take accountability first.”
Meanwhile, Kanye’s loyal fanbase rushed to his defense:
- “Rosenberg is obsessed. Ye lives rent free in his head.”
- “Kanye revolutionized fashion before Pharrell even touched LV.”
Kanye Has Yet to Respond
As of now, Kanye has remained silent on Rosenberg’s remarks. But if Ye’s track record is anything to go by, a fiery response might be coming soon.
Rosenberg’s brutal comments reflect a broader cultural debate about Kanye’s legacy. Once hailed as a visionary in both music and fashion, Ye’s recent controversies have left fans questioning whether he can ever reclaim his throne.
