On Wednesday (Feb. 5), Rihanna responded to an Instagram post featuring artificial intelligence (AI) manipulating her voice. The video, which purportedly showcases Rihanna discussing her most expensive purchases, quickly drew the attention of the Fenty founder. However, Rihanna herself was quick to shut down the clip’s authenticity.

“Who tf is this talking??!” she wrote in the comment section, making it clear that the voice was not hers.

Fans of the singer also expressed skepticism regarding the video. “This is AI lol. Rihanna would never speak like this even if every purchase was true,” one fan commented. Another wrote, “Rih would never boast like this.” Other fans reiterated their distrust, stating, “Real fans know wassup. AI..” and “I don’t believe this… I have never seen stars brag like this about what they have… AI makes me sick.”

Rihanna’s Hollywood Move: Voicing Smurfette

While AI-generated content sparked controversy, Rihanna also made headlines for a more exciting reason—her role in the upcoming The Smurfs Movie. A recently released trailer features the singer stepping into the role of Smurfette while introducing fresh new music for the film.

In the teaser, Rihanna enthusiastically announces her participation: “I can’t wait for you to see the movie this summer.” The trailer cleverly combines the classic Smurfs theme song with Rihanna’s 2007 hit Don’t Stop the Music, followed by her cover of Heaven Is a Place on Earth by Belinda Carlisle. The song also features DJ Khaled, adding another layer of star power.

A Star-Studded Cast and an Adventure to Remember

Rihanna will join a dynamic voice cast that includes John Goodman as Papa Smurf, Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, Nick Kroll, James Corden, and Amy Sedaris. The movie’s storyline revolves around the Smurfs embarking on a journey across different dimensions in search of the missing Papa Smurf.

The Smurfs Movie is being produced by Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, and Ryan Harris and is set to hit theaters on July 18, 2025.
