On March 29th, rapper Sexyy Red found herself at the center of a bizarre conspiracy theory after a parody account, DailyNoud, shared a satirical article on X (formerly Twitter) claiming that she was secretly a CIA agent. According to the fake article, the rapper, known for her hit “SkeeYee,” had been working undercover since 2018 under the codename “Agent Bow Wow.” The satirical piece went further, describing her as “highly destabilizing and culturally critical” based on supposed “officials’” claims.
While many saw the joke for what it was, some took the absurd theory seriously, sparking online discussions. However, Sexyy Red didn’t take the situation too seriously and responded with humor. She reposted the article, commenting, “Damn they got me shattt 🥷🏾,” playing along with the outlandish claim.
One long-time fan, appreciating the humor behind the “CIA agent” joke and the ongoing “industry plant” accusations, took to the post to remind everyone of Sexyy’s authenticity. “BUT, i always gotta stand by the authenticity. Sexyy Red been grinding for literal years. Personally i loved that she blew up,” they wrote, highlighting that the rapper’s rise to fame was the result of hard work, not a manufactured narrative.
This isn’t the first time the “SkeeYee” rapper has faced bizarre accusations. In 2023, some critics suggested she was being promoted to “misguide” Black women, which she quickly shut down with a defiant tweet: “Makin y’all shake a** misguiding y’all?”
Sexyy Red, whose music career has been gaining serious traction since 2018, continues to prove that her success is built on years of grind and dedication. Her latest mixtape, In Sexyy We Trust, was released last May, further solidifying her place in the rap game. Through humor and resilience, she continues to shut down the critics and prove that her rise to fame is as real as it gets.
