Snoop Dogg recently surprised fans by revealing his admiration for Eazy-E’s scathing diss track “Real Muthaphuckkin G’s”, a song directed at him and Dr. Dre during their infamous feud in the 1990s. Speaking on a podcast, Snoop admitted that he frequently revisits the track and appreciates its impact, despite being the target of its sharp lyrics.
Snoop on Revisiting the Diss Track
“I got a radio station on LITT Live called Cadillac Music,” Snoop shared. “Every day at about 1:30, 2:00, walk down the hall. Eazy-E, [Gangsta] Dresta, and B.G. Knocc Out be playing, and that shit be knocking. And you’ll hear me singing it. ‘Muthafuck Dre, muthafuck Snoop, muthafuck Death Row!’ That n-gga Eazy-E was on my head [laughs]. That shit was so hard.”
The Feud’s Initial Heat
Reflecting on the song’s initial release, Snoop admitted that his perspective has evolved over time. Back then, he had no appreciation for the track. “Fuck no! Fuck them n-ggas! You don’t wanna give no n-gga credit when a n-gga dissing you, and we was on them n-ggas’ heads,” Snoop explained.
He recalled how he and Dr. Dre responded with tracks like “What Would U Do?” and “Dre Day,” but acknowledged that Eazy-E’s diss left a mark. “When they dropped that muthafucka, we felt that one. The other shit, we didn’t feel. But that muthafucka right there? Eazy-E was going in on a n-gga!”
Mixed Emotions About Eazy-E’s Words
Snoop also opened up about his personal reaction to the diss, revealing a mix of admiration and sadness. “I was like, ‘Damn, I love Eazy. Why he going so hard on me?’ But then I had to think: look what you did to him, look what you said about him! I didn’t even get off to a good start with somebody that I really loved.”
He noted that the feud was deeply personal for him, while Dr. Dre approached it as “just business,” maintaining respect for his former N.W.A bandmate outside of their public rivalry.
A Feud That Left Its Mark
The animosity between Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Eazy-E was one of the defining rivalries of the 1990s hip-hop scene. Decades later, Snoop’s willingness to reflect on the conflict and recognize the strength of “Real Muthaphuckkin G’s” underscores his growth and respect for Eazy-E’s legacy.
