Renowned Ugandan singer Spice Diana has advised fellow artists to avoid places where they are not welcome, following the recent public humiliation of Omulangira Suna (OS Suna) by Gen. Salim Saleh in Gulu.

A few weeks ago, OS Suna faced criticism from Operation Wealth Creation chief Gen. Salim Saleh during an event in Gulu. A viral clip showed Gen. Saleh dismissing OS Suna’s new song about wealth creation, sparking mixed reactions within the music industry.

Although OS Suna later stated that he agreed with Gen. Saleh’s critique, Spice Diana expressed her dismay at the situation. She described it as a humiliating moment for an artist of OS Suna’s caliber and urged other celebrities to avoid setting themselves up for similar treatment.

“I can never go where I haven’t been called; I don’t go where I am not welcome,” Spice Diana stated. “I will at least always struggle to market my music door-to-door and perform for my fans, however few they may be, but I will never do such. I don’t deal well with such humiliation.”

Spice Diana, who is preparing to celebrate her 10th anniversary in music with a concert at Serena Hotel, emphasized that the incident should serve as a lesson for other artists. She questioned why an established artist like OS Suna, with whom she collaborated on one of her biggest songs, would subject himself to such a situation.

“It should also be a lesson to our stars. Why would an artist like OS Suna, with all the power he has, allow himself to be humiliated like that? It buried his reputation. Why would artists go back anyway? They shouldn’t go back there,” she added.

The Gulu incident has sparked discussions within the entertainment industry, with artists reflecting on their interactions with public figures and institutions. Spice Diana’s remarks underscore the importance of maintaining one’s dignity and focusing on building a supportive fan base.
