Makerere University has officially announced the election of Ssentamu Churchill James as its 91st Guild President. Running as an independent candidate, Ssentamu secured a commanding 3,459 votes, showcasing strong support from the student body.
The university confirmed his victory via its official X account, posting a congratulatory message: “Congratulations to the 91st Guild President Elect H.E. Ssentamu Churchill James.”
In a show of enthusiasm, the Makerere Students’ Guild celebrated his win, describing him as being “Endorsed by God,” signifying the confidence students have placed in his leadership.

Ssentamu’s victory also draws attention due to his family background. He is the nephew of Bobi Wine, a well-known Ugandan opposition leader, musician, and former presidential candidate. His father is Chairman Fred Nyanzi, Bobi Wine’s elder brother.
