A Kansas City teen is facing felony assault charges after a violent incident at an NBA YoungBoy concert turned a night of music into a shocking crime scene.
The 14-year-old boy, whose name is being withheld because he’s a minor, was filmed unleashing a flurry of punches on a 66-year-old usher at the T-Mobile Center during YoungBoy’s Make America Slime Again tour stop. The disturbing clip quickly went viral, sparking outrage across social media.
Felony Charge Before a Driver’s License
Court officials in Jackson County confirmed Tuesday that the teen has been charged with one count of felony assault and one misdemeanor assault charge in connection with the September 17 attack.
“The Juvenile Office of the 16th Judicial Circuit in Jackson County filed the charges against the suspect,” a court administrator told TMZ.
Because of his age, the teen’s identity has not been made public.

Victim Speaks Out
The usher, Thomas Schlange, is still recovering from the incident. He told local outlet Fox 4 that he barely remembers the attack but stands firm that the violent outburst was unprovoked.
“Accountability is important,” Schlange said. “But it’s actually kind of sad things got to this point.”
According to Schlange, the confrontation began when he politely asked the teen to move to his assigned seat. Instead, the situation exploded into violence, leaving the veteran employee with injuries after being punched repeatedly in the face.
The Viral Video
Clips shared online show the teen relentlessly striking Schlange, who tried to shield himself as bystanders rushed to intervene. The video shocked fans and critics alike, raising questions about security protocols at major concerts and the growing issue of youth violence at live events.
The Ironic Twist
In a striking twist of fate, the violent episode unfolded just days after Kansas City officials honored NBA YoungBoy with a city proclamation — recognizing the rapper as a positive role model for his young audience.
That proclamation now feels especially ironic as headlines about the incident spread, overshadowing the intended message of YoungBoy’s influence.
What’s Next?
The teen is set to face the juvenile court system, where penalties could range from probation and mandatory counseling to detention, depending on the judge’s ruling.
Meanwhile, Schlange says he hopes the case leads to a bigger conversation about respect, accountability, and the culture around live shows.
“It didn’t need to go that far,” he said. “A seat assignment isn’t worth somebody getting hurt.”
As for NBA YoungBoy, he has not commented publicly on the assault. But fans are already debating on social media whether the incident reflects poorly on the rapper — or whether it’s simply an isolated case of one fan’s out-of-control behavior.
