Whitney Purvis, known from MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, is speaking out for the first time after what she calls the most traumatic experience of her life — being denied entry to her teenage son’s funeral.
The reality TV alum took to Facebook on Wednesday, dropping an emotional, unfiltered post accusing her ex, Weston Gosa, and his wife Amy of intentionally keeping her out of their son’s service.
“I stayed quiet for years while lies were told about me. Not anymore,” Whitney wrote. “I was not allowed to say goodbye to my son.”
A Devastating Funeral Blockade
According to Whitney, she was told her 16-year-old son, Weston Jr.’s funeral would begin at 4 PM on Saturday in Georgia. But when she arrived with friends and family, she claims the funeral home staff told her she wasn’t on the guest list — and refused to let her in.
“It wouldn’t have mattered if I got there at 2 or 4,” she wrote. “I wasn’t getting in either way.”
She says multiple witnesses heard her being denied entry — including funeral staff saying she wasn’t listed.
“Why Would I Show Up Late to My Own Son’s Funeral?”
Whitney addressed rumors that she intentionally arrived late, slamming claims that she missed the service window.
“They’re saying I was two hours late, but that’s a lie,” she said. “Why would I be late to my child’s funeral? That’s my baby.”
Instead, she alleges the entire situation was carefully orchestrated to keep her out and further control the narrative around her role as a mother.
A Mother’s Grief, A Family Torn Apart
Whitney and Gosa have a long history of custody battles and public conflict, dating back years. She admits she didn’t have full custody, but insists she always tried to stay involved — even when she was blocked from school and medical info, or from sharing photos of her son.
“This child was caught in the middle of an adult war,” Whitney said. “I tried everything to be in his life. I never stopped loving him.”
She also shared that Gosa only contacted her after their son’s passing because he needed her signature for cremation approval. After that, she claims, he ghosted her — and promised to give her a portion of the ashes, but never followed through.
She’s Done Being Silent
In her post, Whitney dropped bombshell claims about years of being silenced, misrepresented, and isolated as a mother — but says she’s speaking out now for her son’s legacy.
“This baby deserved peace, love, and honesty. He didn’t get it. And now he’s gone. And I couldn’t even say goodbye.”
Whitney ended the post by reflecting on her unimaginable loss.
“This has been the most heartbreaking experience of my life. And I won’t let lies stand unchallenged. Not anymore.”
Gosa Responds: Says She Was Invited, But The Rules Were Clear
According to Weston Gosa, who also spoke to media outlets, he personally called Whitney a week in advance, clearly explaining the funeral would be a tightly monitored event with a strict guest list.
He says the viewing was from 2–4 PM, and the service started at 4 sharp. He claims Whitney was late and not approved to attend based on pre-planned arrangements.
TPR Takeaway: A Funeral Fight Goes Public
Whitney’s story has ignited a firestorm on social media — with fans, supporters, and even 16 & Pregnant viewers rallying behind her, demanding answers. Hashtags like #JusticeForWhitney, #LetHerGrieve, and #WestonJr are now circulating as supporters call out the heartbreaking situation.
This isn’t just about a funeral. This is about a mother’s right to mourn, and a family fracture too raw to ignore.
