Fans of rapper Tory Lanez were left stunned and concerned after news broke that the embattled artist was viciously stabbed 14 times while serving time in prison. An official update has now been shared via his Instagram account, revealing the severity of his injuries and offering hope for his recovery.
According to the statement, Lanez—whose real name is Daystar Peterson—suffered multiple life-threatening wounds during the attack. The post detailed that he sustained seven stab wounds to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head, and one to the left side of his face.
As a result of the brutal assault, both of Lanez’s lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing machine immediately following the incident.
Thankfully, the update confirms that the rapper is now breathing independently and showing signs of improvement.
“Tory was stabbed 14 times… Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus,” the post reads.
“He is now breathing on his own. Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through.”
Lanez, who is currently incarcerated after being convicted in the 2020 shooting of fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion, also expressed gratitude toward his supporters.
“He also wants to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support,” the statement concluded.
