After years of speculation, Ty Dolla $ign has finally confirmed what hip-hop fans have been whispering about for months — an unreleased version of Kanye West’s long-shelved track “New Body” featuring Ice Spice actually exists.
But here’s the bad news: it might never see the light of day.
In a candid new interview with Complex, Ty Dolla $ign revealed that the Bronx rapper did, in fact, record a verse for the long-rumored record.
“I don’t know how people even find out about this stuff,” Ty said, laughing. “Yeah, she made a verse for it, but we never did anything with it.”
The track, he added, still exists “on a hard drive somewhere” — gathering dust as fans continue to demand its release.
The Lost Song Fans Refuse to Let Die
“New Body” has taken on a life of its own since it first leaked online back in 2019, becoming one of the most talked-about unreleased tracks in Kanye’s career.
Originally recorded during Ye’s Yandhi era, the song was supposed to feature Nicki Minaj, but the collaboration was scrapped after she reportedly declined to clear her verse.
When Kanye later shifted gears toward his gospel-inspired album Jesus Is King, “New Body” — with its more risqué lyrics — no longer fit the project’s new spiritual tone. Still, the song’s infectious hook and star-studded concept turned it into a cult favorite among fans who continue to stream leaked versions across the internet.
Kanye’s Attempt to Revive ‘New Body’
In 2024, Kanye tried to resurrect the track, reaching out to both Ice Spice and Doja Cat for a possible reboot.
According to influencer YesJulz, Ye asked fans in his inner circle “who sounds best” on the beat, eventually choosing Ice Spice — who recorded and submitted her verse.
But before the record could officially drop, Ice Spice’s team reportedly pulled her verse, leaving the highly anticipated collaboration unfinished once again.
Ty Dolla $ign — who co-produced and appears on the song — shared his disappointment over its indefinite limbo.
“I wish it would’ve [come out],” he admitted. “I think it would’ve been a huge song.”
He also hinted that Nicki Minaj’s original refusal to clear her verse remains the main reason the song never saw a proper release.
Nicki Minaj Responds: “That Train Has Left the Station”
Nicki Minaj has addressed “New Body” multiple times, but her most direct response came during a December 2023 Instagram Live session, when a fan asked if she’d ever reconsider clearing her verse.
“That train has left the station,” Nicki said firmly. “No disrespect, but I just dropped Pink Friday 2. Why would I put out a song that’s been out for years?”
Her comments effectively closed the door on the original version — and likely the Ice Spice one, too.
A Song That Refuses to Fade Away
Even without an official release, “New Body” has become one of Ye’s most legendary unreleased songs — a time capsule of his pre-Jesus Is King era that fans continue to obsess over.
On TikTok and Reddit, users have remixed and reimagined the track hundreds of times, dubbing it “the ultimate lost Kanye record.” Some fans have even begged Ye to drop it on Vultures 2, his upcoming joint project with Ty Dolla $ign, calling it “unfinished business.”
But as of now, the only version fans might ever hear lives somewhere on a hard drive — maybe in Ye’s studio, maybe Ty’s, or perhaps in the digital abyss of unreleased hip-hop history.
Ty Dolla $ign Moves On with ‘TYCOON’
While “New Body” remains in limbo, Ty Dolla $ign isn’t dwelling on the past. The hitmaker is charging ahead with his new album, TYCOON, set to drop October 17.
The project features heavy hitters like Kodak Black, YG, and Tory Lanez, signaling that Ty is still very much in his bag — even as one of the most mythical records of his career stays locked away.
“I’m always working, always creating,” Ty told Complex. “Every song has its time. Maybe ‘New Body’ just wasn’t meant for this moment.”
The Bigger Picture: A Hip-Hop What-If
For fans, “New Body” represents one of hip-hop’s biggest what-ifs — a track that could’ve united Kanye, Ty, Nicki, and Ice Spice across two generations of rap royalty.
The idea of Ice Spice replacing Nicki — even temporarily — sparked massive debate online, with some fans calling it “passing the torch,” and others accusing Ye of stirring unnecessary controversy.
Still, the hype proves one thing: fans haven’t moved on, and the curiosity around the record continues to grow.
