The Trump administration is directly criticizing Selena Gomez for her tearful reaction to recent mass ICE arrests, accusing the actress and singer of lacking empathy for victims of crimes allegedly committed by undocumented immigrants.
White House Responds with Video Highlighting Victims
On Friday evening, the White House uploaded a video to Instagram and other social media platforms featuring three separate cases where women were allegedly murdered by undocumented individuals.
The captions on the video read, “Kayla Hamilton, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Rachel Morin were murdered by illegal aliens. Their courageous mothers had something to say to @SelenaGomez and those who oppose securing our borders.”
Mothers Speak Out Against Gomez’s Reaction
In the video, the victims’ mothers—Alexis Nungaray, Tammy Nobles, and Patty Morin—express their heartbreak and accuse the Only Murders in the Building star of seeking sympathy for undocumented individuals at the expense of their children’s memories.
Patty Morin stated bluntly, “No one has stood up except for us mothers to cry out about our children.” The women also praised President Trump for reinforcing immigration policies after returning to the Oval Office earlier this month.
Selena’s Emotional Reaction and Subsequent Defense
Selena, a third-generation Mexican American, previously expressed her distress over mass deportations by posting a video of herself crying on social media, saying that her people were “getting attacked.” However, she quickly deleted the post and later defended herself, stating that she was simply expressing “empathy for people.”
Tom Homan’s Response
Former acting ICE director and border security advocate Tom Homan also weighed in, urging Gomez to direct her concerns to Congress instead of social media.
Awaiting Selena’s Response
We have reached out to Selena Gomez’s representatives for comment, but so far, there has been no response. Given the strong reactions from both the White House and immigration advocates, it remains to be seen whether she will further address the controversy.
