Whitney Purvis, known from 16 and Pregnant, missed the funeral for her late 16-year-old son, Weston Jr., last Saturday amid a family dispute over funeral timing and guest access, TMZ has learned.
A source close to Whitney shared that she was devastated after being turned away from the Georgia funeral home, where Weston Jr. was being honored. Whitney was reportedly told by her son’s father, Weston Gosa Sr., that the funeral service would begin at 4 PM. However, when she arrived, she was informed the service had started at 2 PM, and she was not on the guest list.
Conflicting Accounts Over Funeral Timing and Guest List
Weston Gosa Sr. provided a different version, saying the viewing took place from 2 PM to 4 PM, with the funeral service commencing promptly at 4 PM. He insists he personally informed Whitney a week in advance, inviting her and stressing a strict guest list would be enforced.
According to Gosa, Whitney did not arrive until after 4:15 PM, at which point the chapel doors were locked and the service was underway. The funeral director reportedly told Whitney it was too late to enter, leading to a tense scene outside.
Gosa says Whitney sent messages accusing him of being “evil” for excluding her but later acknowledged she was on the guest list after he sent her a photo proof. He also notes that Whitney’s own family members — including her mother, aunt, and uncle — did attend the service.
Gesture of Compassion Amid Family Tensions
Despite the tension, Gosa and his wife Amy bought Whitney a separate urn containing some of Weston Jr.’s ashes as a gesture of compassion.
Weston Jr. tragically passed away earlier this month. His death certificate lists natural causes as the reason for his passing. The story of Whitney and Weston’s family was originally documented in Season 1 of 16 & Pregnant.
