One woman’s in-flight meltdown took turbulence to a whole new level.
A Southwest Airlines flight from New York’s LaGuardia to Kansas City descended into pure chaos this week after a female passenger launched into a violent, screaming rage — and the entire episode was caught on multiple jaw-dropping videos.
The Meltdown That Shocked the Cabin
It started like any other late-night flight — until one woman snapped midair, lunging at a fellow passenger, grabbing fistfuls of hair, and screaming at the top of her lungs.
Video footage shows:
- The suspect violently clutching another woman’s hair
- Screaming denials even as the hair is clearly in her grip
- Passengers trying desperately to pull her off without escalating the madness
- The woman thrashing, kicking, and hurling racial and offensive slurs at everyone within earshot
???? The Flight Crew Tried Everything — Then the Cops Stepped In
Flight attendants and good Samaritans managed to restrain her on the cabin floor, but she didn’t go quietly.
“She was full-on spiraling — screaming, kicking, cursing — you name it,” one passenger shared on X.
The meltdown didn’t end when the plane landed either.
In another now-viral clip, the woman is seen being hauled through the terminal on a stretcher, surrounded by Port Authority police, looking stunned but subdued.
???? Who Is She? What Cops Are Saying
Law enforcement sources confirmed to TMZ that the woman was identified as 32-year-old Leanna Perry, a New York resident.
She was officially arrested around 1:10 AM Tuesday at LaGuardia Terminal B, and slapped with charges of aggravated assault.
According to officers, Perry was heavily intoxicated, and her behavior was deemed a danger to others onboard.
????️ Witnesses React: “One of the Craziest Things I’ve Seen on a Plane”
Videos of the in-flight breakdown have since spread across TikTok, Instagram, and X, sparking a tidal wave of shocked comments and fiery debates.
- “I would’ve demanded a refund just for witnessing that madness.”
- “Y’all, I’m never flying without noise-canceling headphones again ????”
- “She grabbed hair, denied it, and screamed like a banshee… what was in her drink???”
Air Rage Is On the Rise — And Airlines Are Struggling to Cope
While this might be one of the most dramatic incidents caught on camera recently, air rage is far from rare these days.
- According to FAA data, unruly passenger incidents have surged since the pandemic
- Cabin crews are now being trained on de-escalation techniques and physical restraint methods
But sometimes — like in this case — even that isn’t enough to stop total chaos.
✈️ What Happens Now for Leanna Perry?
Leanna Perry is expected to face formal charges in court, though no additional info has been released on potential sentencing or airline bans.
Southwest Airlines has not yet issued an official public statement.
