Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer Reignite Their Iconic SNL Characters for a Hilarious Performance at SNL50

Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer brought their fan-favorite Saturday Night Live characters, Marty and Bobbi Mohan-Culp, back to life for a hilarious and show-stopping performance at SNL50: The Homecoming Concert. The quirky music teachers took center stage at Radio City Music Hall, delivering a laugh-out-loud cover of Kendrick Lamar’s hit song “Not Like Us.”

Known for their outrageously out-of-touch pop song covers, the Mohan-Culps delivered a mashup of today’s hottest hits, combining humor with music in their unique style. Their rendition of Lamar’s Grammy-winning track added a theatrical twist, leaving the audience in stitches.

Marty and Bobbi’s Return to SNL Stage

Ferrell, fully in character as Marty, joked about the ongoing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. “Are Kenny Lamar and Drake Graham in the house?” he quipped, adding, “Maybe you two can hug it out tonight in the name of love and fellowship. No? Not in hell. Message received.” The comedic banter set the tone for the rest of the performance.

As the duo continued their comedic musical medley, they skillfully incorporated hits from artists like Charli XCX, Britney Spears, Doechii, Sam Smith and Kim Petras, and Megan Thee Stallion, staying true to the eccentric style that made their SNL sketches so memorable.

An SNL50 Celebration to Remember

The performance was part of the larger SNL50 celebration, held in honor of Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary. The event, which took place at Radio City Music Hall, featured appearances from a star-studded lineup, including Cher, Dave Grohl, Snoop Dogg, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and Bad Bunny. The celebration also served as the precursor to the highly anticipated SNL50: The Anniversary Special, a three-hour live event airing on February 16.

Ferrell and Gasteyer’s performance was a perfect tribute to their beloved characters and a reminder of the legendary humor that SNL has delivered over the years. As the anniversary special draws near, fans can look forward to more memorable moments from the SNL alumni and musical icons.
