YG is no longer facing charges after a misdemeanor DUI arrest in Burbank last October.
Case Dismissed
On Wednesday (February 5), TMZ reported that the Burbank City Attorney’s Office dismissed the case due to lack of evidence. Joe Tacopina, YG’s attorney—who also represents A$AP Rocky in his ongoing gun case—told the outlet that the case was thrown out primarily because YG wasn’t inside the vehicle when officers arrived.
During the early hours of October 1, police spotted the “Who Do You Love” artist after he accidentally hit a curb. However, by the time officers approached, he was already outside his car. While officers didn’t administer a breathalyzer, they did collect a blood sample before later charging YG with a misdemeanor DUI.
YG Expanding Into Film and Business
In addition to his legal victory, YG is diving into new ventures. He, Freddie Gibbs, and WWE’s CM Punk have joined the cast of the upcoming indie horror film Night Patrol.
An October Hollywood Reporter article revealed that Justin Long, Jermaine Fowler, and RJ Cyler will lead the Ryan Prows-directed project, which is slated for release later this year. According to the film’s synopsis:
“LAPD officer (Fowler) must put aside his differences with the area’s street gangs when he discovers a local police task force is harboring a horrific secret that endangers the residents of the housing projects he grew up in.”
YG’s Past Acting and Business Ventures
This isn’t YG’s first foray into acting. He previously directed and starred in a short film accompanying his 2014 album, Blame It On The Streets. Additionally, the Compton rapper has been expanding his business portfolio, recently launching Cherry Bomb, a male enhancement product.
