The Super Bowl halftime stage is heating up — and this time, it’s political. After Bad Bunny’s announcement as the headliner sparked controversy over his Spanish-language songs and outspoken criticism of ICE, conservative nonprofit Turning Point USA unveiled plans for their own halftime show.
“We’re thrilled to announce The All American Halftime Show,” the organization posted Thursday on X, formerly Twitter, promising a very different vibe than what’s expected from the Grammy-winning Puerto Rican superstar.
What We Know About the TPUSA Show
Details about performers and the exact lineup remain under wraps, but the official website already offers a hint: under a genre preference survey, one of the options is simply “anything in English.”
The move is seen as a direct response to Bad Bunny, who primarily performs in Spanish and has drawn criticism from certain corners of the media for his political statements.
Bad Bunny Isn’t Shaken
Despite the uproar, Bad Bunny has taken the news in stride. During his ‘SNL’ monologue over the weekend, he joked about the situation:
“You might not know this, but I’m doing the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and I’m very happy, and I think everybody’s happy about it … even Fox News!”
The crowd erupted as a montage of Fox News anchors appeared, edited to humorously suggest, “Bad Bunny is my favorite musician and he should be the next president.”
The Super Bowl Stage Awaits
The Super Bowl is scheduled for February 8, and with TPUSA’s “All American Halftime Show” now in play, fans may get an entirely unexpected alternative to the traditional spectacle.
Whether audiences will flock to see a political counter-program or stick with the international icon Bad Bunny, one thing is clear: the 2025 halftime show conversation is already dominating social media.
