Nicki Minaj might have had smoke for The Breakfast Club, but DJ Envy and Jess Hilarious say they’re not losing sleep over it.
The rap superstar went off in a fiery livestream earlier this week, blasting the morning show team along with TMZ, DJ Vlad, Roc Nation, and more — promising they would all “crumble.” But when TMZ Hip Hop caught up with Envy and Jess, the two were unfazed.
DJ Envy & Jess Hilarious Brush It Off
“Nicki didn’t even mention me by name,” Envy laughed, brushing off the drama. Jess was equally unbothered, adding that the Barbz haven’t shaken her world in the slightest.
Envy even poked fun at Nicki’s fanbase, joking that most of her hardcore stans are now between 40 and 50 years old. “They’re parents now,” he said, “and no parent is gonna co-sign Nicki dragging Cardi B’s kids into her beef.”
Charlamagne’s “Donkey of the Day”
The whole exchange came right after Charlamagne Tha God named Nicki his “Donkey of the Day,” using Remy Ma’s voice clip to drive the point home. Nicki’s tirade had targeted the hip-hop radio mainstay, but The Breakfast Club crew insists there’s no real beef on their end.
Clearing Up Old Rumors
Envy also took the opportunity to shut down an old rumor: that Nicki’s label boss Birdman was permanently banned from the show following his infamous “put some respek on my name” meltdown.
“That’s never been true,” Envy clarified. “Birdman’s not banned. Nicki’s not banned. Her music isn’t banned either.”
What The Breakfast Club Hopes for Nicki
Despite the jokes, both Envy and Jess ended on a more serious note. Jess said she hopes Nicki finds peace, while Envy added that it’s clear the rapper may be carrying unresolved trauma.
“Hopefully she gets the help she needs,” he said.
The Bigger Picture: Nicki vs. Cardi
Nicki’s rant comes in the middle of her heated online feud with Cardi B, which has only intensified after digs about NFL star Stefon Diggs spiraled into family insults. With fans from both sides weighing in daily, the tension shows no sign of cooling off.
