Lil Wayne recently reflected on his most memorable verse during a conversation with Maverick Carter for his Mavericks series. When asked about his best lyrical performance, Weezy didn’t hesitate to reference a track from the Hot Boys’ debut album, Get It How U Live!, released in 1997.
Wayne’s Best Verse: ‘Block Burner’
“To me, to this day, my best verse is gonna always be my verse on my first solo song on the Hot Boys album. It was a song called ‘Block Burner,’” Wayne revealed.
He recalled how his verse on Block Burner resonated with fellow artists, particularly in New York. “When we would go do shows and stuff in New York, even a TV show or something — if they had another New York artist on that, they would always pull me to the side and let me know like, ‘Bro, I respect that you rap like that and don’t cuss.’”
Wayne’s Early Career & Influence
Starting his rap journey at a young age, Lil Wayne has built an extensive catalog over three decades. He debuted as part of The B.G.’z, a duo with Hot Boys member B.G., and released True Story in 1995. During the late ’90s, Wayne also featured on solo albums by Juvenile, B.G., and the Big Tymers, solidifying his status in hip-hop history.
