Colombian Man Caught Smuggling Cocaine Worth $10K Under ‘Narco Wig’
Colombian police officers got more than they bargained for when they apprehended a man attempting to board a flight with an unusual disguise—a thick synthetic wig concealing cocaine capsules worth approximately $10,000 USD.
The 40-year-old suspect, reportedly from Colombia’s Coffee Region, was intercepted at Rafael Núñez International Airport in Cartagena just before boarding a flight to Amsterdam. A routine security scan revealed something suspicious hidden beneath his hairpiece, prompting authorities to take a closer look.
Cocaine Stash Hidden in Wig
Upon closer inspection, officers discovered nine capsules of cocaine cleverly tucked underneath the synthetic wig. The illicit stash, worth 42 million Colombian Pesos (approximately $10,000 USD), had been disguised in a way that would have allowed the trafficker to pass through security unnoticed—had it not been for the scanner.
The bust was captured on video, showing authorities carefully cutting into the wig to expose the hidden drugs.
Repeat Offender & Ongoing Investigation
According to Colombian National Police, the intercepted drugs could have been sold for over 10,000 euros in the European market, potentially amounting to more than 400 doses. The suspect, identified as a repeat offender with two prior drug trafficking charges, now faces additional legal trouble.
While authorities have not yet connected him to a specific criminal organization, investigators suspect he may be working for a larger network. Further inquiries are underway to determine the masterminds behind the smuggling operation.
As for the wig? It’s definitely not making it past customs.
