Lawyers for rapper Lil Baby are vehemently defending their client against accusations made by the Atlanta Police Department (APD), who claim the star played a role in triggering gang violence that led to the murders of two teenage boys.
Following a press conference on Wednesday, in which police officials linked Lil Baby to the fatal shootings during his 2024 music video shoot, his attorneys, Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg, issued a statement strongly refuting the allegations.
APD’s Accusations
At the press conference, APD Homicide Commander Ralph Woolfolk stated that Lil Baby was filming in the same area where the murders took place, suggesting that the rapper’s presence contributed to a “rap war.” Woolfolk criticized the rapper’s decision to film in the area, calling it a “cowardly act” and stating that Baby should have known better.
Lil Baby’s Lawyers Respond
In response, Lil Baby’s legal team called the accusations “complete and total nonsense,” emphasizing that the rapper had no involvement in the tragic incident. They argued that claiming Lil Baby could not shoot a music video in his hometown, a place he’s worked to uplift, was “disgraceful.” The statement further clarified that decisions regarding video shoot locations are made by a professional team, not by any individual, including the artist.
A Devastating Loss for Lil Baby
The lawyers also pointed out the emotional impact on Lil Baby, noting that he and the victims grew up in the same Atlanta neighborhood where the violence occurred. They condemned the APD’s actions as “unprofessional, unethical, and shameful,” asserting that the rapper is devastated by the tragedy.
