Blacc Sam, the older brother of the late Nipsey Hussle, is set to open a new restaurant, Marathon Burger, as a tribute to his brother’s legacy. Inspired by Nipsey’s Marathon brand and its famous tagline, “The journey continues,” the restaurant aims to serve the community while keeping Nipsey’s entrepreneurial spirit alive.
In an interview with KCAL News, Blacc Sam shared the deeper meaning behind the project:
“The Marathon brand was created by Hussle to inspire and motivate. It just means to keep going. It’s not a race; it’s a pace.”
He emphasized the importance of perseverance and self-reliance, adding, “Anything that we can continue doing in that spirit is always a blessing.”
What’s on the Menu at Marathon Burger?
The new eatery will offer a mix of classic comfort food and healthier alternatives. Customers can expect burgers, wings, and a variety of vegan-friendly options, including a plant-based or portobello mushroom burger and a grilled vegetable salad.
A Dream Born from Childhood Ambitions
Blacc Sam also revealed that his and Nipsey’s dream of owning a restaurant started in their youth.
“We was always like, ‘Man, when we get right, it’s time we get a restaurant, [because] we already know how to run it.’”
Determined to stay hands-on, Sam plans to actively manage the restaurant and even work in the kitchen.
Reflecting on Nipsey Hussle’s Tragic Death
It has been nearly six years since Nipsey Hussle’s passing, and Blacc Sam continues to seek answers about the circumstances surrounding his murder.
In an interview with Big Boy TV, he suggested that while Eric Holder—the man convicted of killing Nipsey—is serving a 60-year sentence, there may have been other forces at play.
“When Hussle pulled up, we [normally] had security in place. Why wasn’t the protocol followed that day? I wasn’t there. Maybe they were distracted… but something wasn’t right.”
As Sam moves forward with Marathon Burger, he remains committed to honoring his brother’s legacy through entrepreneurship, community service, and perseverance—ensuring that Nipsey’s vision lives on.
