Infamous convicted wife-killer Scott Peterson found himself on the receiving end of a prison beatdown after an altercation over a pickleball game turned violent. The notorious inmate, who is serving a life sentence at Mule Creek State Prison in California, was reportedly assaulted by another prisoner following a heated exchange on the recreation yard.
Pickleball Dispute Turns Physical
Multiple sources close to the prison report that the incident occurred Sunday near Peterson’s housing unit. Witnesses claim that tensions escalated when Peterson aggressively hit a pickleball directly at another inmate, sparking an immediate confrontation.
According to insiders, the other prisoner reacted swiftly, launching an attack that left Peterson visibly battered. While the injuries were not severe enough to require hospitalization, sources indicate that Peterson “got beat up” before the situation was diffused by prison staff.
Scott Peterson’s Dark Past
Peterson, now 51, gained international notoriety after being convicted in 2004 for the murder of his pregnant wife, Laci Peterson. The case, which captivated the world, unfolded after Laci, who was eight months pregnant, disappeared on Christmas Eve in 2002. Peterson initially reported her missing, but months later, her badly decomposed remains, along with the body of their unborn son, Conner, were discovered floating in the San Francisco Bay.
Prosecutors argued that Peterson had meticulously planned the murder in order to escape his marriage and start a new life with his mistress, Amber Frey, who later testified against him. The damning evidence, including recorded phone calls and inconsistencies in Peterson’s alibi, ultimately led to his conviction.
Life Sentence After Death Penalty Overturned
Following his 2004 conviction, Peterson was initially sentenced to death. However, in 2020, the California Supreme Court overturned his death sentence, citing that some jurors had been improperly dismissed during jury selection. He was later resentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Despite the overwhelming evidence against him, Peterson has continued to maintain his innocence. In a 2023 Peacock documentary, he reiterated his claim that Laci was abducted and murdered by burglars who had broken into a neighboring Modesto home. However, legal experts and investigators have repeatedly dismissed this theory, reinforcing the belief that Peterson was solely responsible for the crime.
