Former “Bachelor” star Sean Lowe has opened up about a traumatic experience involving his rescue dog, Moose, that has left him physically and emotionally shaken. The shocking series of attacks began just three months after adopting the dog, and what started as a routine day soon turned into a nightmare that had Lowe heading to the ER not once, but twice.
The Calm Before the Storm
The nightmare began on a typical Thursday evening. Sean Lowe was enjoying a barbecue with friends, a fun, laid-back evening with his wife Catherine. But things quickly took a dark turn. While cooking on the grill, the fire alarm went off due to smoke, prompting Lowe to run inside to turn it off. What happened next was far from what he could have anticipated.
A Sudden Attack
As Sean was trying to manage the smoke and silence the fire alarm, he reached for a towel to wave at the smoke detector. At that very moment, his rescue dog, Moose, suddenly turned aggressive. It started with an unexpected nip on Lowe’s finger, but the situation escalated rapidly from there.
Moose, who had always been a calm and loving companion, began sinking his teeth into Lowe’s shoes, before attacking him more viciously. Sean’s attempt to defend himself was met with further aggression. The dog didn’t show any signs of fear or defensiveness — this was an unprovoked and brutal attack. Moose’s viciousness caught Sean off guard, and despite his desperate efforts, Lowe found himself fighting off the dog while blood poured from the wounds.
A Battle for Survival
Despite the escalating attack, Lowe managed to get Moose outside into the backyard, hoping that this would stop the assault. But the attack didn’t stop there. Moose, determined and relentless, came back inside and continued his attack on Lowe. It became clear that the situation was growing more dangerous by the minute.
Lowe, in a fight-or-flight response, had to once again fend off the dog. At one point, blood was squirting from a deep cut on his wrist, with the force of the injury leaving Lowe in shock. His friends, who had no idea what was going on inside the house, quickly rushed to his aid, and Lowe was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
Trips to the ER: A Nightmare Continues
At the hospital, Lowe received stitches on both arms after the severe bites from Moose. But what seemed like an already horrifying ordeal didn’t end there.
The next morning, in a turn of events no one saw coming, Moose managed to escape the backyard and returned for a third attack on Sean. This time, Lowe’s survival instincts kicked in again as he wrestled the dog to the ground. After another frightening struggle, Lowe managed to get away, but not before sustaining more injuries.
Once again, Lowe was rushed to the ER, where doctors provided more stitches to treat his deep cuts.
