Rick Ross is bringing his signature luxury-rap energy to “Loaded,” a new collaboration with Jamaican-American producer Kemar McGregor, as the Miami heavyweight faces criminal charges stemming from allegations made by his ex-girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick.
The track combines Caribbean-inspired rhythms, warm basslines and cinematic production with Ross’ familiar themes of wealth, ambition and success. McGregor, known as “The Billboard King” for his reggae hits, gives the record a breezy island influence that complements the rapper’s commanding delivery.
But beyond the lavish imagery, “Loaded” also revisits a familiar part of Ross’ musical identity: the journey from humble beginnings to financial independence and mogul status.
The song’s themes reflect the image Ross has cultivated throughout his career, building a brand that extends beyond music into business and entertainment.
Since breaking through with his 2006 hit “Hustlin’,” Ross has expanded his influence through Maybach Music Group, a catalog of established rap projects and a range of business ventures. His albums include Port of Miami, Teflon Don and Richer Than I Ever Been.
His business interests have also included Wingstop franchises, automotive-care brand Slippery Soap and the annual Rick Ross Car & Bike Show. Together, his music and entrepreneurial activities have helped establish the rapper’s public image as a hip-hop figure associated with luxury and financial success.
However, the release of “Loaded” comes as Ross faces a legal case that has placed renewed attention on his personal life.
On October 1, 2026, Ross, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, surrendered to police in Miami Beach, Florida. He faces charges of felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery in connection with allegations made by Kendrick.
According to a police affidavit, Kendrick alleged that an argument at Ross’ Star Island residence on August 28 turned physical. She accused the rapper of slapping her, striking her chest and restricting her breathing by twisting the collar of her hoodie.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
Ross denied the accusations after posting $5,000 bond. “I am totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me,” he told reporters.
His statement makes his position clear as the legal proceedings continue, while the allegations remain claims rather than established findings.
For now, “Loaded” puts the focus back on Ross’ musical formula: grand production, Caribbean influence and lyrics centered on wealth and ambition. Yet the timing of the release means the rapper’s latest chapter is unfolding across two very different arenas — his entertainment career and a pending legal case.
