Weezer bassist Scott Shriner is going ahead with his performance at Coachella this Saturday, just days after a tumultuous and frightening incident at his home in Los Angeles.
Sources close to the band reveal that Weezer will be performing at full strength, with Scott fully committed to the show despite the extraordinary personal circumstances unfolding at home.
A Violent Incident Unfolds at Scott’s Home
As previously reported by TMZ, Scott’s wife, Jillian Lauren Shriner, was shot by the LAPD during a police pursuit near their home in Eagle Rock on Tuesday. The chaotic scene occurred when Jillian reportedly emerged from her house holding a gun as officers were searching for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run accident. Police allegedly commanded her to drop the weapon multiple times, but she reportedly ignored those orders, pointing the gun at the officers before allegedly firing it. In response, the police shot Jillian in the shoulder.
After the altercation, Jillian and her babysitter surrendered to authorities about 30 minutes later. Jillian was taken to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury and later booked on a charge of attempted murder. A 9mm handgun was reportedly recovered from their home. Jillian has since been released on $1 million bail.
Scott’s Dedication to Weezer and the Show Must Go On
Despite the traumatic events at home, Scott has made it clear that his commitment to the Coachella performance remains unchanged. While it is unclear whether Jillian will be able to attend the festival to support her husband, sources suggest that it is unlikely.
