Drake is deep in album mode, dedicating nearly every waking moment to recording his next solo project. According to those closest to the Toronto rapper, he’s more focused than ever.

OVO artist Smiley recently shed light on Drake’s creative drive, revealing just how intense things have gotten. “Even at the ‘Nokia’ video shoot, during a break, he had a bunch of producers around and was just recording,” Smiley shared on livestream. “He’s in that crazy mode right now.”

Smiley also recounted a party where Drake completely tuned out the fun to focus on writing. “We’re at a party and he’s in another room, eating pasta with wired headphones, writing music while we’ve got a whole party going on,” he said. “He’s on a different level.”

Drake has been locked in working on his new solo album, according to Smiley 🦉

Drake Confirms New Album: “It’s a Slap”

During a livestream with Adin Ross, Drake confirmed what fans have been eagerly waiting to hear: a new solo album is officially on the way. “Working on a new album right now,” he said. “It’s a slap.” He emphasized that the project will be entirely solo—no joint collaborations this time.

As he builds momentum in the studio, Drake is also facing major off-stage challenges.

Drake Expands Lawsuit Against UMG Over Kendrick Lamar’s Diss Track

The rapper has escalated his legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG), updating a lawsuit to accuse the label of defamation. Drake’s legal team alleges that UMG supported Kendrick Lamar’s viral diss track “Not Like Us,” which they claim damaged his reputation. The complaint points to Kendrick censoring a controversial lyric during his Super Bowl performance as a tacit admission of guilt.

UMG has fired back, calling the lawsuit “reckless” and warning that Drake could be pulled into discovery. But Drake’s camp remains defiant. “Drake welcomes discovery and has nothing to hide,” a spokesperson said. “It’s UMG’s current leadership who should be nervous.”

Balancing Creativity and Conflict

Despite the legal drama, Drake seems unfazed and fully immersed in his music. With a new album on the horizon and studio sessions in full swing, fans can expect a major comeback from one of hip-hop’s most dominant figures.
