According to TMZ sources, there are currently no concrete plans to bring back the awards show or permanently scrap it. Paramount’s Shake-Up and Industry-Wide Suspensions
The cancellation follows major corporate changes at Paramount Global, MTV’s parent company. Paramount is currently undergoing a merger with Skydance Media, leading to the suspension of several high-profile events.
Last month, Paramount executive Bruce Gillmer reportedly sent out a memo announcing that several major live events were being shelved. While the MTV Movie & TV Awards wasn’t explicitly named in the memo, it has now joined other affected events like the CMT Music Awards and Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
