Comedy Store UG boss Alex Muhangi was left emotional during a TikTok Live session as he explained why he believes Bebe Cool snubbed his scheduled performance at last week’s Comedy Store show.

Bebe Cool’s Unexpected Exit

The controversy started when Bebe Cool, a longtime friend of Muhangi, was booked to perform at Comedy Store UG. The Gagamel boss arrived at the venue early, accompanied by his wife, but in an unexpected turn of events, he left before stepping on stage. This left hundreds of fans disappointed, as they had eagerly anticipated both the comedy performances and his musical showcase.

It was later revealed that Bebe Cool left because his payment balance had not been settled. Muhangi, however, clarified that he had stepped out briefly to collect the balance, only to return and find that Bebe Cool had already driven off.

Alex Muhangi’s Emotional Reaction

In a TikTok Live session with fellow artists Crysto Panda and Bruno K, Muhangi broke down in tears, questioning how someone he had considered a close friend for years could sabotage his business in such a manner.

“Bebe Cool is a personal friend. Our families are close. Why would he do something like this to me?” Muhangi lamented.

He further expressed his frustration, stating that Comedy Store UG has paid Bebe Cool over UGX 100 million in past performances. He emphasized that while he respects Bebe Cool’s status as a legendary artist, in this particular arrangement, he was the client and expected professionalism in return.

A Publicity Stunt for ‘Motivation’?

Muhangi speculated that Bebe Cool’s actions might have been a deliberate stunt to generate controversy ahead of his latest music release, ‘Motivation’.

“How are you talking about ‘Motivation’ yet you leave a venue with 800 fans waiting to watch you perform? That show was hosted by your friend. It hurts me that Rasta came and did not perform. He is my boy. I have known him for a long time. It’s not about the money—Rasta just wanted to promote his song.”

Fans React to the Drama

The incident has sparked mixed reactions among fans, with some siding with Muhangi and expressing disappointment in Bebe Cool’s actions, while others argue that artists should never perform without receiving full payment.

Despite the controversy, Comedy Store UG remains one of Uganda’s biggest entertainment platforms, attracting top comedians and musicians alike. Whether or not Bebe Cool and Muhangi will reconcile remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—the incident has fueled conversations across Uganda’s entertainment industry.
