Ciara and Bow Wow

In a new interview with Billboard, the rapper and actor opened up about that pivotal time in both of their careers, when they were not only a couple but also two of the hottest young artists in the industry. Their collaboration, “Like You,” soared to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and claimed the No. 1 spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, becoming an instant fan favorite.

“She was on fire,” Bow Wow said of Ciara during that era. “She was about to be certified triple-platinum on her first album, Goodies. It just made so much sense at that time in the moment of my life when we were together to record that song.”

The track was released at the peak of their relationship and played a major role in capturing the magic of their chemistry — both on and off the mic.

“I was the youngest, hottest cat in the game. She was the youngest, hottest female in the game and at that time we were dating,” he continued. “It just made perfect sense for us to collaborate together on a Jermaine Dupri product. And boom, there you have it — No. 1 out the gate.”

When asked about the challenges of dating another artist in the same industry, Bow Wow said the experience wasn’t complicated for them.

“It’s been done before,” he noted. “I think with us, it was the timing. It was effortless. It just made sense.”

He went on to praise Ciara’s performance on the song, saying, “It was the perfect marriage for that record, and nobody else could have sung that hook and did that verse like how she delivered on that record.”

Bow Wow Preps Musical Comeback with Chris Brown

Beyond reminiscing about the past, Bow Wow also used the interview to announce his musical comeback. He revealed plans to drop his first single in over five years — a collaboration with Chris Brown titled “Use Me.” The track samples Murder Inc’s early 2000s hit “Down Ass Chick.”

“It’s hard to deny nostalgia,” Bow Wow said. “When you see two artists come together that don’t necessarily need one another — like, Chris doesn’t need Bow, and he does what he does, and you’re here with me now, and I’m doing what I’m doing — we and the fans know that when we come together as a collective, expect nothing but greatness. Me and Brown don’t miss. We never miss.”

With both a reflective look back and a promising move forward, Bow Wow’s recent comments have fans buzzing — not only about the legacy of his work with Ciara but also about what’s next in his music journey.
