Cam’ron and Mase Blame Bad Energy for Gervonta Davis’ Draw Against Lamont Roach Jr.

Gervonta Davis’ recent draw against Lamont Roach Jr. at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center has sparked a curious theory from Harlem legends Cam’ron and Mase. On the latest episode of their podcast It Is What It Is, the duo speculated that Davis’ dramatic entrance might have played a role in the unexpected outcome.

Davis made his entrance flanked by Dipset’s Jim Jones and Juelz Santana, who performed their 2004 hit “Crunk Muzik.” According to Cam’ron and Mase, the energy surrounding this moment may have created more bad luck than positive vibes for the boxing champion.

The Theory: ‘Bad Energy’ Ruined the Fight

Cam’ron started by acknowledging Mase’s long-held belief that certain people, or their energy, can influence the outcome of big moments like sports games. “Mase always says, ‘Yo, don’t bring this n—a out with you, ’cause they’re not going to win if you bring this n—a out with you,’” Cam’ron shared. “I don’t say it out loud, because your opinion’s your opinion. But then I got it, when the fight went on. When you got that type of energy… it gets into you.”

Both Cam’ron and Mase suggested that the entourage of performers brought with them a “sad and mad” energy, despite appearing outwardly cheerful, which negatively impacted Davis’ performance. “You can’t come out with that energy, man, it’s bad energy,” Cam’ron added. “Nobody’s happy over there… Tank, get outta there.”

Sports and ‘Bad Energy’ Theory

The theory that energy can influence outcomes isn’t new for Mase, who extended the logic to other sports. He went on to claim that had Meek Mill performed during the Philadelphia Eagles’ recent playoff run, they would have fallen short of their second Super Bowl title. “If Meek Mill walked them out, they’re not going to win a championship,” Mase asserted.

This line of thinking found some resonance on social media, where former NBA star Nick Young weighed in, humorously remarking, “Tank fight was a draw soon as I seen Juelz.” The sentiment was echoed by others who noted the potential impact of the performance on Davis’ fight.

Continued Feuds and Friendships in the Hip-Hop World

Amid this conversation, Cam’ron and Jim Jones have been embroiled in a feud, which reignited after 50 Cent’s appearance on Cam’s Talk With Flee series, where the two revisited their history of tension. Regardless, the conversation around energy and its impact on big moments in sports continues to intrigue both fans and athletes alike.
