Congressman Al Green, the Texas Democrat who famously interrupted President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, has announced plans to file articles of impeachment against the president. During an appearance on “TMZ Live” Thursday, Green revealed his intention to take action against Trump, citing the president’s “incivility” during his speech to Congress.

The dramatic incident unfolded when Green, unable to contain his frustration, stood up in protest while Trump was delivering his address. In the heated moment, Green yelled at the president, disputing Trump’s claim of a “mandate,” before being escorted out of the chamber by security.

Green explained that his outburst, which led to a censure vote by 224 of his colleagues, including 10 fellow Democrats, was driven by his passion for defending Medicaid. Despite the personal cost, Green felt compelled to stand up for his beliefs in the face of what he called the president’s disregard for civility.

Green’s bold actions have sparked a new round of political conversation, and he now plans to file articles of impeachment to challenge Trump’s behavior. While he didn’t provide a specific timeline, Green emphasized that Democrats must engage in what he described as “righteous incivility” to push back against the president’s attacks, particularly following Tuesday’s speech where Trump referred to his political opponents as “lunatics” and took shots at Senator Elizabeth Warren.

This wouldn’t be the first time Trump faces impeachment proceedings. He was impeached twice during his first term, though both times, the Senate ultimately acquitted him. However, Congressman Green is hopeful that a third attempt may be the one that succeeds.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing political drama. You can catch the full exchange with Congressman Green on “TMZ Live.” Check your local listings for airing times.
