Diddy Trial Kicks Off With Key Witness Uncertainty as Prosecutors Face Early Pressure

Federal prosecutors in the Diddy trial are facing early challenges in their case, particularly regarding a potential star witness who may not appear in court at all — despite being subpoenaed.

On Monday, the prosecution revealed in court that one of the alleged victims, referred to as Victim No. 3, does not live near New York City, where the trial is being held. They also disclosed that the woman has indicated she might not show up, throwing a wrench into the government’s plans.

Lead Prosecutor Maurene Comey Acknowledges Uncertainty

During the first day of proceedings, lead prosecutor Maurene Comey told the judge that efforts to contact the woman — or even her attorney — have proven difficult. When asked if the woman’s story would be mentioned in opening arguments, Comey confirmed it would not, explaining that her testimony was not expected until the second phase of the trial.

Instead, prosecutors will describe her more generally as one of multiple women who have accused Diddy of abuse and sexual exploitation, without naming her or detailing her allegations in early court statements.

Diddy’s Defense Team Pushes for Clarity

Attorneys representing Sean “Diddy” Combs voiced concern over the uncertainty surrounding Victim No. 3. They demanded that prosecutors clarify by the end of the week whether the woman will appear at trial.

In response, the judge urged the prosecution to make every effort to contact the woman’s lawyer and secure her testimony, highlighting how crucial her participation could be to the case.

Inside the Courtroom: Calm Start, Subtle Interactions

As trial proceedings got underway, the courtroom atmosphere was described as mild and professional. Both the prosecution team and Diddy’s lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, maintained a cooperative tone throughout the day.

Diddy appeared composed, dressed in a sweater and collared shirt that notably covered his neck tattoo. Observers reported that none of the prospective jurors made eye contact with him as they entered and exited the courtroom.

Throughout the session, Diddy was seen passing notes to Agnifilo, including a moment when he reportedly asked a question about a juror who had expressed discomfort with violent videos.

    Diddy Interacts With Legal Team

In another light moment during the day, Diddy was spotted chatting closely with attorney Teny Geragos, and at one point helped her sit down at the defense table — a small gesture that didn’t go unnoticed by those present.

As the trial gains momentum, all eyes are now on whether Victim No. 3 will appear — a key moment that could significantly impact the direction of the high-profile case.
