DJ Akademiks has reportedly been banned from Twitch following a highly controversial conversation he had with a 15-year-old streamer, sparking intense backlash across social media.

Twitch Takes Action

On January 28, Twitch disabled Akademiks’ channel, displaying a message that reads: “This channel is currently unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s community guidelines or terms of service.”

Speculation arose that Twitch banned Akademiks following a call he made to Adin Ross during a livestream. Ross was permanently banned from Twitch in 2023, further fueling theories about the platform’s decision.

The Inappropriate Exchange

The controversy erupted after Akademiks engaged in a conversation with a 15-year-old streamer, known as NourGXD, during a Fortnite stream. During the broadcast, Akademiks made numerous inappropriate remarks, pushing boundaries that many considered unacceptable.

“Yo, if [PlaqueBoy] Max said he wanted to try f*cking a dude, will you let him fuck you?” he questioned the teen. As Nour expressed discomfort by replying, “no,” Akademiks escalated things further, pressing, “Why not?”

He continued making explicit comments, including speaking about being “inside” the boy and asking if he would “smash” a fellow streamer’s older sister. Nour immediately called out the remarks as “grooming,” asserting, “I’m 15. She’s above 18.”

Meek Mill’s Public Warning

The incident caught the attention of rapper Meek Mill, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to warn parents about Akademiks’ platform.

“If you’re a parent go get ya kids phone and block this man he’s grooming children with a very large platform that ‘kids’ like… also attempts to ruin Black families and Black success daily. ‘VILLAIN IN THE VILLAGE.’”

Meek continued, condemning Akademiks’ influence:

“At that point, he’s an extremist! This the guy spreading false info on Black culture. This ‘diabolical work’—I see why he wants us all to appear gay and discredit Black successful men daily! This better be AI!!!”

Akademiks’ Response and Attempted Justification

As criticism mounted, Akademiks issued an apology, describing his remarks as “regrettable.”

“I am wrong. I will be better. This is a teachable moment for me,” he stated.

However, in a follow-up defense, he attempted to justify his comments:

“Bro, it’s a dude. If it was a woman, it would be very different… That’s like the little bro. I used to teach my cousin even when he was underage like, ‘Yo, n-gga. You don’t got a girl?’”

Akademiks then dismissed the backlash, claiming his influence remains intact:

“I’m still the biggest, pause. You can’t cancel what you didn’t build.”

Final Thoughts

The Twitch ban marks a significant development in the ongoing controversy surrounding DJ Akademiks, with many calling for further action beyond platform restrictions. As the backlash continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how this will impact his future in digital media.
