Comedian Eddie Griffin recently gave fans a glimpse into his wild past with hip-hop legends Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G., sharing stories that are equal parts hilarious and jaw-dropping. During a stand-up appearance in Atlanta, Griffin recounted chaotic moments that happened behind the scenes of music and street life in the ’90s.
Tupac’s Atlanta Antics
Griffin first took fans back to his time with Tupac, recalling events during the heyday of the infamous Freaknik block parties.
“Pac was hanging out the window double-fisted with both middle fingers out,” Griffin said, describing the legendary rapper’s signature defiance.
The scene escalated when some locals didn’t appreciate Tupac’s gestures, leading to a street fight. Griffin admits that although they were outsized, he and Tupac held their own.
“We won the fight, but I told Pac we couldn’t hang anymore — I’m a laugher, not a fighter!” he laughed.
On Set With Biggie and Diddy
The conversation then pivoted to Griffin’s time on Diddy and Ma$e’s “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down” music video, notable for being the last one featuring The Notorious B.I.G. before his untimely death in 1997.
Eddie joked about his longtime friendship with Diddy, claiming he even coined the nickname “Diddler”. However, the set had its moments of tension:
“Diddy was funny with delivering my money on time,” Griffin said, setting up a humorous twist.
In classic Eddie Griffin fashion, he walked off with Diddy’s jacket as playful payback.
“P diddy has a new wardrobe for the time being… prison threads,” he quipped, bringing the story full circle with his signature comedic punch.

Legacy and Laughs
While Griffin’s tales are humorous, they also reflect the intense environment surrounding hip-hop icons of that era. From street brawls to music video hijinks, the stories remind fans of a time when life and music often collided in unexpected ways.
“You never knew what was gonna happen next,” Griffin said.
