Evangeline Lilly is recovering from a scary beach accident that left her with a severe facial injury. The Lost star took to Instagram to share graphic photos of her bloodied and bruised face, revealing she fainted and fell face-first onto a boulder.

In her post, Lilly wrote that she was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were more focused on why she lost consciousness than treating the deep wound on her face.

Lilly directed fans to a Substack post linked in her bio for more context. There, she explained that she’s experienced “absent” fainting spells since childhood.
Doctors had previously tested her for epilepsy and suspected hypoglycemia, but both diagnoses were eventually ruled out.
The Real Cause? Emotional ‘Checkouts’
Now at age 44, Evangeline believes these episodes are rooted in her emotional well-being, describing the blackouts as moments where she mentally “checks out.”
“Sometimes I disconnect when I don’t even realize I need to,” she wrote.
Unfortunately, her most recent “checkout” landed her face-first into solid rock.
