Gervonta Davis is off the hook — at least for now. TMZ Sports confirms the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office has dropped the domestic violence case against the star boxer, nearly two months after the alleged incident.
“This case was dropped as the victim is declining to prosecute per her victim attorney, Lindsey Chase, Esq.,” a spokesperson for the State Attorney said.
Details Behind the Dismissal
Officials confirmed that the case fell apart partly due to uncooperative witnesses:
- The victim, mother of Davis’ children, chose not to pursue prosecution.
- Her mother, a witness to the incident, failed to cooperate and missed a subpoenaed prefile conference on August 7.
- The responding police officer did not witness the incident, eliminating them as a potential source of testimony.
“Follow-up attempts to contact the witness (mother) via phone were unsuccessful,” the statement added.

What Happened in June
Davis was arrested on July 11 following an incident that reportedly occurred on Father’s Day in June. According to the alleged victim:
- Davis became physical during a verbal dispute while picking up his kids.
- She claims he struck her in the back of the head and slapped her on the right side of her face.
- She allegedly sustained a minor laceration on her inner lip during the altercation.
The case drew major attention because of Davis’ high-profile career in boxing and the severity of the accusations.
Davis’ Response
So far, Davis has not made any public comments regarding the arrest or the dismissal of the case. His legal team and prosecutors have not issued additional statements at this time.
Bottom Line
With the case officially dismissed, Gervonta Davis faces no charges related to the June domestic dispute. While legal troubles can loom for athletes in the public eye, this outcome clears the star boxer — at least for now — and closes a chapter that had many fans watching closely.
