Boxing star Gervonta “Tank” Davis is under intense legal scrutiny, facing a new arrest warrant in Baltimore just days after being taken into custody in Miami.
The overlapping cases, though unrelated, have intensified public attention on the 26-year-old fighter, whose career has repeatedly collided with the law.
⚖️ Baltimore Warrant Issued
On Monday, Baltimore Circuit Judge Althea M. Handy authorized the warrant, citing alleged probation violations stemming from a 2023 sentence. The news broke on Tuesday via ESPN’s Andreas Hale.
Davis was originally sentenced in 2023 for a 2020 hit-and-run in Baltimore, which injured four people, including a pregnant woman. The court’s judgment included:
- Three years probation
- Home detention
- Community service
🏨 Alleged Violations
The probation arrangement unraveled when prosecutors revealed Davis had stayed at a luxury hotel and a $3.4 million penthouse owned by his trainer, Calvin Ford, rather than his approved residence.
Judge Handy ruled this a violation of his home detention terms, resulting in a six-week jail sentence.
📝 Lawyer Requests Summons Instead
Davis’ attorney, Hunter Pruette, is pushing to avoid another jail stint. In filings, he requested that the arrest warrant be recalled and replaced with a summons, alongside GPS monitoring.
“Mr. Davis has appeared as directed, posted bond, complied with all conditions, remained within Florida, and promptly notified supervision of his arrest,” Pruette wrote.
His team argued that holding Davis in Maryland would interfere with his ability to address the ongoing Miami case, which has already halted his return to the boxing ring.
🥊 Miami Case Adds Pressure
The Miami arrest involves accusations from former girlfriend Courtney Rossel, who alleges battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping during an Oct. 27 incident at Tootsies, a Miami-area strip club.
Authorities say Rossel reported Davis attacked her in a back room, dragged her outside, and assaulted her in a parking garage, with surveillance footage supporting portions of her account.
“The investigation determined that Mr. Davis used force to restrain the victim,” said Miami Gardens Police executive officer Emmanuel Jeanty.
🔥 Outside the Ring Drama
With legal challenges mounting in both Baltimore and Miami, Davis faces uncertainty that overshadows his boxing career. The combination of probation issues and serious allegations threatens to keep the fighter in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
