Jermaine Dupri is speaking out, hoping former Migos members Offset and Quavo will mend fences and reunite—something he believes Atlanta desperately needs.
The So So Def founder opened up on the BagFuel podcast about the seismic impact the Migos breakup has had on Atlanta’s hip-hop scene.
A Breakup That Shook Atlanta’s Hip-Hop Core
“That hurt a lot of the city, period,” Dupri said bluntly. “The Migos breaking up was a bad situation for Atlanta because they was moving — and I think they’re better together anyway, me personally.”
His words capture the heartbreak many fans and industry insiders feel about the once-unbreakable trio now going separate ways.

Takeoff’s Death Left a Void No One Can Fill
Jermaine also reflected on the shock and grief Atlanta felt after Takeoff’s untimely passing.
“It was really crazy for us. I ain’t think Atlanta nias was gonna die,” he said. “An Atlanta rapper dying felt like ‘Aw damn, what the fk is going on?’ It felt crazy to me.”
Takeoff’s death in late 2024 shook the music world and left a lasting scar on the city that raised him.
Last Projects and Fleeting Reunions
Just weeks before Takeoff’s death, Quavo and Takeoff dropped their collaborative album Only Built For Infinity Links—the final Migos project.
Since then, Quavo and Offset reunited briefly for a surprise 2023 BET Awards performance, but the closeness they once shared seems distant. One of their last public moments together was honoring Takeoff on what would have been his 31st birthday.
Quavo’s Heartfelt Tribute to Takeoff
On Instagram, Quavo paid a poignant tribute:
“Happy Birthday Take!!! A 30 ball damn bro the youngest out gang getting old boyy but today we celebrate no matter what we will always celebrate you and keep your name alive as long,” he wrote.
“I’m here you are too twin it always have been like that and don’t nun change but the chains to infinity rocket man I love you. Lets get it!”
