Kai Cenat, one of Twitch’s most popular creators, recently opened up about his decision to decline a $60 million deal with the streaming platform Kick. Speaking on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, the content creator explained why he chose not to make the move despite the staggering offer.

“Not All Money Is Good Money”

Sharpe, clearly surprised by Cenat’s decision, asked, “You turned down $60 million to join Kick. Why did you do that?” Cenat responded with thoughtful clarity. “It wasn’t right. I couldn’t join Kick at the time because I realized that not all money is good money,” he said. “Some money you could take and deals you could sign that would jeopardize everything that you built up.”

For Cenat, the decision was about more than the financial gain. “Sometimes you gotta just say no. This is cool, it’s generational, but I’m more like, ‘What am I stamping on the world? What am I going to be known for?’ If it doesn’t make sense, I’m not doing it,” he continued. “I had such a great community where I’m at now, why would I leave it?”

A Decision Grounded in Faith

Cenat revealed that his decision was deeply influenced by prayer and reflection. “It was me and God,” he said. “2023, right before my Sub-A-Thon. I got a call from Kick saying, ‘We got these millions.’ Fifteen days on Twitch, then 15 days on Kick, and then reveal that you’re on Kick.”

Despite the tempting offer, Cenat chose to trust his instincts. “I told my team, ‘I can’t do it.’ As soon as I hung up, I got down on my knees, put my hands together, and prayed. I said, ‘God, I just turned down a crazy amount of money that’ll help me for a lifetime. I just hope that you keep me on the road of staying focused and being able to achieve my dreams at a natural pace.’ And he answered.”

Staying True to His Community

Although Cenat declined Kick’s offer, he remains a dominant force on Twitch, where he is one of the most-subscribed creators. In 2023, he curated numerous viral moments featuring high-profile guests like Snoop Dogg, Kevin Hart, Druski, Nicki Minaj, and John Cena, further solidifying his place as a leader in the streaming world.

Cenat’s decision demonstrates a commitment to his values and his community, proving that success isn’t always about chasing the biggest paycheck. As he continues to dominate the streaming landscape, his story serves as a reminder of the importance of staying true to oneself and one’s principles.
