As the Kawempe North by-election approaches, Sadat Mukiibi, widely known as Kalifah AgaNaga, has been declared the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party’s flag bearer. In his manifesto, unveiled at the FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi, AgaNaga outlined his vision for the constituency, focusing on health, infrastructure, youth employment, government programs, and talent development.

Health Initiatives

AgaNaga plans to enhance healthcare in Kawempe North by purchasing an ambulance from his salary and lobbying for funds to establish mobile clinics. These clinics aim to provide door-to-door health services, especially during the rainy season when accessing certain areas becomes challenging due to poor drainage. He emphasized the importance of addressing health issues arising from inadequate drainage systems.

Infrastructure and Drainage System

Collaborating with the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and other relevant bodies, AgaNaga aims to improve the drainage system in Kawempe North. He acknowledges the challenges faced by residents, particularly those working near roads, during the rainy season. By enhancing drainage, he hopes to mitigate the adverse effects of flooding on the community.

Youth Employment and Digital Empowerment

Addressing youth unemployment, AgaNaga advocates for embracing technology in the digital era. He proposes installing free Wi-Fi hotspots in ghetto areas, enabling young people to access online opportunities. He cites examples of youths becoming influencers on platforms like TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), suggesting that internet access can open avenues for income generation.

Government Programs and Community Empowerment

AgaNaga plans to collaborate with the government to monitor programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM), ensuring that residents benefit as others do in different regions. He encourages the formation of groups among residents to take advantage of such initiatives, with a focus on prioritizing youth and women in the national budget.

Talent Development and Copyright Advocacy

Being an artist himself, AgaNaga aims to advocate for the amendment of copyright laws to protect creators. He proposes establishing an international standard production studio in Kawempe North to nurture and groom talent in songwriting, singing, production, and instrumentation. He highlights the area’s rich history of producing stars like Sheebah, Jose Chameleone, and Mudra, emphasizing the need for a structured industry.

AgaNaga’s manifesto reflects a comprehensive approach to addressing key issues in Kawempe North, focusing on health, infrastructure, employment, community empowerment, and talent development. As the by-election nears, residents will consider these proposals when casting their votes.
