Detroit Pistons star Malik Beasley and his wife, model Montana Yao, have taken a significant step toward ending their marriage. Yao, 27, has filed for legal separation just one day before their fifth wedding anniversary, citing “irreconcilable differences” in the documents obtained by TMZ Sports.

Seeking Spousal Support

In the legal filing, Yao is requesting spousal support. The couple shares two young children together, with Yao giving birth to their first son, Makai, in March 2019, and their daughter, Mia, arriving in November 2022.

A Previous Attempt at Reconciliation

This isn’t the first time the couple has faced separation. Yao filed for divorce in December 2020, after Beasley was photographed holding hands with Larsa Pippen, sparking public speculation. At the time, Yao admitted she was “blindsided” by the photos, and she opened up on social media about the difficulties the family was facing. Despite the turmoil, the couple eventually reconciled and stayed together for another three years.

Beasley’s Solid Performance on the Court

Beasley, a first-round pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, is having a solid season with the Pistons. He has been averaging 16.6 points per game across 62 appearances this year, despite the personal challenges unfolding off the court.

The Financials

Over the course of his career, Beasley has made nearly $60 million, playing for several NBA teams, including the Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, and Milwaukee Bucks.

As the couple moves forward with their separation, the future remains uncertain, but both parties are focused on their individual paths, including their careers and family life.
